Sharing My Background
With approximately 14+ years of experience in the higher education sector, I have a wealth of knowledge to share. My expertise lies in building employee engagement, mentoring, onboarding, and networking programs. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of guiding colleagues through various career transitions, be it pursuing promotional opportunities, embarking on new career paths, or venturing into the world of entrepreneurship. I also serve as a subject matter expert, extending mentorship to college and university students exploring career paths related to Human Resources, Talent Development, and Workforce Development.
Within the higher education arena, I played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Staff and Faculty of Color Association at the University of California, Merced. Through this initiative, I've conducted informational career interviews, workshops, sessions, and webinars that specifically support leaders of color in education. My goal is to empower them to embrace their expertise, talents, abilities, and leverage their unique strengths by reshaping their professional career narrative.
Career coaching is an integral part of the professional development programs I've crafted over the years in higher education. I've been honored to serve as a career coach during events like the Next Opportunity at Work (NOW) Conference at the University of California, Berkeley, and the People Management Conference at the University of California systemwide level. My approach includes tailoring individual career coaching sessions for speed networking environments (in between conference sessions), conducting group coaching sessions, and facilitating career development dialogues during conference breakout sessions. As a trained and certified group facilitator, I've successfully led a wide array of meetings, workshops, retreats, task forces, focused groups, and conference sessions. I've also had the privilege of delivering keynote speeches and conducting workshops on diverse topics including leadership development, personal brand building, the distinction between mentoring and coaching, overcoming biases, and fostering a healthy work environment through collaboration and excellence.
